Full Job Description

This job is for a Personal Support Assistant to join a small friendly team to assist Samantha to live as independently as possible both in her own home in Fareham (just off Highlands Road) and all aspects of her work and social life.

Working Hours Available:

1. Thursday 9am - 8pm (11 hours) £12 per hour + 12.07% holiday pay

2. Saturday 9am - 8pm (11 hours) £14 per hour + 12.07% holiday pay

Paid monthly for each hour worked. Salary is paid by BACS calendar monthly.

FLEXIBLE JOB SHARE CONSIDERED - We are happy to receive applications for either shift 1 or 2 or both. This can be discussed at interview stage

On occasion, there must be some flexibility with start and finish times to fit in with whatever is going on in my life, whether work, home, hobbies, or recreation.

Overtime for other shifts will also be available.

Tasks:

Straightforward administrative tasks
Shopping
Food preparation and cooking
Light cleaning to include laundry, vacuuming and washing floors, spot cleaning etc
Gardening
Assisting Sam with her daily routines
General care for Sam’s pets to include litter trays, feeding and cuddles!
Social and leisure pursuits
Work related activities including events and Ebay selling
Attending appointments
Light health care tasks such as medication, blood pressure monitoring, general wellbeing
Driving locally and or distance for work, social and leisure

Other Requirements:

Moving and handling of mobility aids
Willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check (DBS)
Non-smoking/vaping position
Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
Two satisfactory references
Full UK driving licence

Skills and Experience:

A reasonably good understanding of Excel, Word, and email
Good communication skills; verbal, written and listening
An understanding of ebay would be advantageous but not essential
Ability to work independently, under instruction, and as part of a team
Cheerful, caring and a good sense of humour
Good time management and organised approach
Previous support or care experience advantageous but not essential as full training will be given
Good use of initiative and flexibility with changes in activities or support needs
Understanding of professional and personal boundaries and confidentiality
Must be confident and able to work in a pet environment
Reliable, trustworthy and a good communicator
Values equality and respect

About Sam

In 2014 Sam broke her neck and punctured her spinal cord. After a few years of hospitalisation and rehabilitation she is now able to live independently in her own home with support. Her injury has resulted in a condition known as Autonomic Dysreflexia.

The majority of Sam’s mobility has returned, and she is now able to walk unaided in her own home but still needs mobility aid when she goes out. Sam enjoys being independent as possible, therefore likes to carry out her own personal care needs with minimal assistance.

Sam’s interests include: gardening, crafting, pets, ebay, events, car boot sales, days out

Part-time hours: 11 - 22 per week
