The company is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. We are ranked in the world's top 350 HEIs in the 2021 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and in the top ten mainstream universities in the country for the proportion of UK undergraduates in employment 15 months after graduating. We have campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, London and Peterborough with around 2,500 staff and 35,000 students from 180 countries. With a focussed civic mission, we are committed to working with others through education, research and knowledge exchange to enhance the economic, cultural and social wellbeing of the communities in which we work and live.
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity. The Faculty of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences is a vibrant community. AHSS underwent restructure in 2018 and has ambitious plans to deliver an education for the future, supported by excellent teaching and learning and underpinned by research and knowledge exchange. Building on our successful UK and international growth and investment in facilities, this post is key to achieving those ambitions. The Head of International and External Engagement will provide strategic and inspirational leadership for our work in international recruitment and partnership development, as well as develop opportunities for external activities in the UK and overseas. Working closely with the Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean and an enthusiastic supportive Faculty Leadership Team, you will play a key role in helping achieve these ambitions.
Candidate Requirements:
With a degree plus PhD or Professional Doctorate, you will have outstanding leadership qualities and an ability to motivate and inspire teams. Senior management and leadership experience in higher education is essential for this role as well as extensive quality assurance experience. With an understanding of the recruitment market and recruitment strategies/insights you'll have excellent networking skills and an ability to build and nurture external contacts to the benefit of our faculty. You will be required to travel regularly in the UK (including travel to both Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses) and internationally, and adopt non-standard working hours at times (e.g., weekend work).
