Bristol Cathedral - Cleaners - 2 jobs (1 x 4 hrs per day for 4 days) (1 x 3 hrs per day for 4 days) - 8am start time with some flexibility. Hourly rate of £9.50 - these are permanent roles.

Ideally the successfully applicants will be able to provide some holiday cover for each other.

Overall purpose of post

To ensure that the Cathedral’s toilets and communal areas are a clean and welcoming environment for our customers and colleagues.
To maintain high standards in hygiene and health and safety.

Responsibilities and accountabilities

Nature and scope of role

Provide cleaning for the Cathedral, Gatehouse and events as required – working with the Vergers, Stage Crew and Café staff.

Cathedral (every day):Toilets, Chapels, Song School, Slype Kitchen, some hoovering around the Cathedral, External litter pick + any other duties
Gatehouse (once a week): Toilets, Kitchen, Polish desk tops, Vacuum carpets and empty waste bins
Café (every day): Communal area and also work with Café staff to ensure all areas are clean and hygienic



Health and Safety and child protection and first aid and security

Report any health and safety or safeguarding concerns in relation to children or vulnerable adults.

Responsibility for Health and Safety

Take any necessary action to avoid potential health and safety hazards.
To ensure that you are aware of the Cathedral health and safety policy; accident reporting procedures; fire drills and first aid facilities.
To liaise with the Head Verger on all Health and Safety matters and make them aware of any concerns.
Participate in training which include; Health & Safety and Operational Activity.

Experience

Cleaning of commercial properties
Proven experience of working as part of a team
Health & Safety (training will be provided)

Knowledge, skills and abilities

The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, volunteers and external partners.
Good communication skills.
The ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
