Description:

REAch2 Academy Trust and the governing body of Garden City Academy in Letchworth Garden City are seeking to appoint a new headteacher to take post in January or Easter 2022.

What we can offer

Whether you are an experienced headteacher, or preparing for your first headship, we can equip you with the experience, knowledge and training to achieve your next career goal. As part of REAch2, you will have the opportunity to work within a close network of academies, and with headteachers from across the wider Trust. We have a highly experienced central team, all committed to providing support and developing your skills as a leader. As part of a rewarding environment and highly supportive Trust, we can provide headteachers with all the support needed whilst still offering them the autonomy of working for a local authority.

Information about our school

Garden City Academy is an averaged size, single form entry primary schools with approximately 250 students on roll. Like many REAch2 Academy Trust schools, we have a higher-than-average proportion of children who are eligible for the additional pupil premium funding. We aim is to ensure that every member of the school community feels included, valued and respected, and that each person is treated fairly and well. We are a caring community, whose values are built on mutual trust and respect for all. We have high expectations of all our pupils and support each child to fulfill their full potential and be the best they can be. Our school motto is 'Believe and Achieve', something which is embedded in our everyday ethos.

At our school we firmly believe in the importance of forming relationships between parents, carers and the school. To achieve the best results it is vital that there is close co-operation and communications between home and school. Working together we can help your child acquire the knowledge, and develop the skills that they will need in later life.

The aims of our school are:

  • To care for and support all children equally regardless of race, gender, ethnic group, religion or special needs
  • To enable every child to achieve their full potential and to demonstrate excellence
  • To promote high standards of behaviour through developing mutual respect which promotes high standards of behaviour
  • To offer a broad, exciting and relevant curriculum that recognises and supports individual learning needs
  • To promote high standards of learning and achievement.
  • To expect high quality academic work
  • To equip every child with the personal resources they will need for the future
  • To have high personal and social expectations of all children.
  • To encourage children to take responsibility for their own actions.
  • To work in partnership with parents and the community.
  • To operate in a happy, well maintained, safe, clean and attractive school..

What we are looking for in our next headteacher

We are seeking an existing and successful headteacher, or an outstanding deputy headteacher, who is innovative, responsible and insightful with the passion, drive, and enthusiasm to build on Garden City Academy’s current strengths. We are looking for an individual who can ensure that Garden City Academy remains at the centre of the local community and who fosters successful relationships with parents, carers and external organisations, while maintaining relationships with other REAch2 schools and the wider trust.

The successful individual will be focussed on pupil and staff development alike. They will be able to lead, motivate, develop, and inspire a school team of staff and governors who are passionately committed to giving pupils the widest range of real-life enriching experiences and exceptional opportunities, within a culture of high expectations.

We would like to hear from individuals who can demonstrate boundless energy, dedication and enthusiasm for the role and ultimately the passion to make a difference to children's lives.

Being part of REAch2

Since 2012, Garden City Academy has been part of the REAch2, family. There are 60 schools within our organisation, grouped into ten clusters. Garden City Academy sits within cluster four and works most closely with five others in that cluster, based from Harlow, across Hertfordshire to Aylesbury. The cluster is led by the deputy director of education. Being part of that family, you will benefit from the expertise, support and opportunities offered by the largest, primary only, multi-academy trust in the country; you will have the freedom to shape Garden City Academy within our guiding principles, to open up opportunities to develop your career; to take care of your wellbeing at work and to enable you to flourish as an individual.

REAch2 will offer you the kind of rewards you can only find in a Trust that is improving the prospects and life chances for thousands of children across the country.
