Description:

The starting salary for this role is £27,991 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

Woodlands looks after up to 4 young people aged between 10-17 years old on admission and provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people who have experienced challenging and traumatic life events. Woodlands offers you the opportunity to join a dedicated and energetic team that provides the best possible quality of personalised care for young people that meets each child’s needs and promotes their welfare.

Through the process of building meaningful relationships with both the young people and staff, you will be part of a team that provides warmth, nurture, and care for some of Surrey’s most vulnerable children. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires compassion, understanding, playfulness, and humour.

Woodlands will also give you the opportunity to work with a wider network of professionals in achieving 24-hour, child centred care and support for our young people and their families. We actively promote young people’s rights and respect their individuality. We are committed to providing residential care as a positive choice, recognising that young people will come from a diverse range of backgrounds and have different experiences and needs as a result of this.

We strive to support young people to understand the circumstances that have led to them being looked after and to help them make sense of their life journey.

As a Senior Residential Worker, you will be modelling good practice in front of young people and colleagues. Your role is one of leading the shift on duty whilst also providing less experienced staff with opportunities to grow and develop. As a Senior you will be required to take on supervisory duties and will be provided with the training to do this.

To be shortlisted for this role, your application shouldclearly evidence:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce Diploma Social Care Pathway.
  • Knowledge and experience of working directly with children and young people.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team and provide guidance and assistance to less experienced members of staff.
  • Awareness of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and relevant Health and Safety Legislation, and of the roles and responsibilities of practitioners working in a childcare environment.
  • Ability to respond to conflict or other incidents involving our young people within Surrey’s restorative framework.
  • Committed to an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive approach to the work and able to translate this attitude into practice.
  • Prepared to be flexible and available to work unsocial hours, including public holidays.
  • That you have a valid driving licence.
