The Authority is looking for a new Educational Psychologist to join our newly formed Prevention and Early Intervention Team within the Behaviour Support Unit.
The post is to commence as soon as possible.
The post holder will undertake a lead role in supporting capacity building in schools in Swansea for pupils with social, emotional or mental health difficulties and will lead in the development, implementation and delivery of the ELSA (Emotional literacy support assistants) in school programme. ELSA is part of a national programme, and is focused on providing teaching assistants in schools with special training, support and advice from educational psychologists to support the emotional development of children and young people in school. This is an exciting new post in our structure.The post holder will also be required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team Prevention and Early Intervention Team based in the new Swansea Pupil Referral Unit which is being established to provide early support and advice to schools in Swansea.
This is a hugely exciting time as Swansea Council has invested in a major overhaul
of its EOTAS services and the development of this new team to support the implementation and realisation of its Behaviour Strategy. We are now looking to recruit suitably experienced and dynamic new staff to join us at this pivotal time.

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers will need to be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) from 1st April 2016.
Applicants must be professionally qualified and registered with the HCPC.
