Description:
Head of Housing Delivery
PO9: Starting salary £63,207 per annum
Lambeth is a diverse and thriving central London borough comprising high density zone 1 neighbourhoods in the Central Activities Zone such as the South Bank, Waterloo, Vauxhall and Brixton which are experiencing significant growth with large scale commercial and housing developments underway – South Bank and Waterloo alone has c.3.5m sq ft commercial space in the pipeline. To the south, our residential communities such as Clapham, Streatham and West Norwood are thriving and evolving.
This growth is underpinned by a dynamic cultural scene, public realm improvements, infrastructure investment, and ensuring a robust response to the climate crisis is at the heart of all we do. In order to support our ambitions, a number of opportunities are available in our Regeneration and Housing Growth team which offer the chance to work on some of the great projects that are already underway as well as to shape the future of our borough. The council-led portfolio of projects has a gross development value of around £1.5 billion and is in addition to our major council-led housebuilding programme which is being delivered by our wholly owned development company, Homes for Lambeth.
Eleanor Purser and Sara Waller, Lambeth’s Co-Strategic Director of Sustainable Growth and Opportunity, said: “We want to bring in people who will take a project and own it.
“We are about to deliver one of the UK’s largest house building programmes, building c.4,500 new homes over the next 20 years, as well as transformational changes to our neighbourhoods which respond to the changing context resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. We have a range of roles that suit individuals with prior experience in real estate, the built environment and place-based regeneration.”
Tom Branton, Lambeth’s Director of Regeneration and Housing Growth said, “One of the unique things about working for Lambeth Council is that if you are just starting your career, you will have exposure to the full development life cycle of a project, from feasibility to delivery. That can be rare within local authorities and this offers a great chance to fast-track your career with a forward-thinking organisation. The council has a very supportive approach to flexible working and to professional development, as we want to ensure that our people are able to flourish in their roles.”
