Description
Would you like to further your career in Transport?
Our award-winning Transport Projects Team is looking for a Public Transport Officer to lead on the City Council’s response to the government’s National Bus Strategy.
The National Bus Strategy, published in March 2021, set out a number of requirements for Local Transport Authorities in order to improve bus services and help them recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. This included the forming of an Enhanced Partnership and preparing a Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).
Brighton & Hove was named in the strategy document as a beacon authority in terms of its successful Quality Bus Partnership which has contributed to the highest growth of bus trips per head amongst English local authorities outside of London.
As a key member of the public transport team you would be responsible for managing the implementation of the BSIP, facilitating the Enhanced Partnership, managing various bus infrastructure and promotional projects and maintaining excellent relations with stakeholders throughout. You will also be the main contact with the Department of Transport ensuring all reporting and financial requirements are met.
The role makes an important contribution to the work of our busy Transport Department so an ability to work within a team environment is essential as is experience of budget and contract management.
Good communication skills, both speaking and in writing, and experience of stakeholder engagement at senior levels are important qualities.
To discuss the position further please contact Owen McElroy, Senior Project Manager on 01273 293693.
