Description

This post is the Council’s Senior Tax Adviser providing VAT, PAYE/NI and Corporation Tax support to the Council’s Tax Manager to ensure the County Council meets its statutory obligations in operating tax law and regulations.

You'll be joining Hampshire County Council, an organisation that is recognised nationally as one of the country's highest performing local authorities and a champion for delivering public services. We've set ourselves apart by successfully creating the largest public sector shared service partnership in the country. The partnership delivers services for over 100,000 customers across Hampshire County Council, Oxfordshire County Council, Hampshire Constabulary, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster City Council and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

We're looking to recruit someone with strong accounting and/or tax knowledge to provide training and guidance across our partnership (who can use technology to continuously improve quality, productivity, and planning), build relationships with managers within partner organisations, communicating effectively to ensure standard processes are followed and to support resolution of issues, and demonstrate exceptional customer service, and role model this throughout the team.

What can we offer you?

Hampshire County Council is recognised nationally as one of the highest performing local authorities in the UK. A modern, forward-looking local authority, it offers a pleasant, supportive, and collaborative working environment. We offer a strong focus on employee wellbeing and development, providing support and training to grow personally and professionally.

We envisage most aspects of this role can be carried out remotely, complemented by regular office-based working to support business needs (currently a minimum of one day per week). Our offices are based in Winchester – a beautiful and historic city with excellent facilities and good travel links. Hampshire County Council is also a flexible employer interested in making the most of your skills and offers a great work life balance. We invest in you through our internal development programmes and training and offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
