Our Steam Yacht Gondola is the unrivalled sailing experience of the Lakes. We are looking for a crew member to work on this charming vessel, once enjoyed by Wealthy Victorians. Take in the spectacular scenery of the Coniston Fells as you go about your daily tasks to keep the Gondola operating smoothly.

This role is 1705 hours over the year but will be reduced from November - February, there is flexibility with the hours available and this can be further discussed at the interview stage.

Visitors can enjoy the charm of luxury travel once experienced by wealthy Victorians, riding in style aboard the Gondola, as she glides across Coniston Water. Everything we do here with the Steam Yacht Gondola is possible because of the revenue we get from visitors coming to see our re-built Victorian steam-powered yacht on Coniston Water. Visitors love knowing that their money goes towards the maintenance and conservation of these treasured places and historical pieces, such as our steam powered yacht. All this work needs funding, and our visitors do this by paying for their entry or their membership.

What you'll be doing
Wow!” “What a fascinating boat and amazing scenery!” Just the sort of reactions we love. You’ll love hearing them too, as you help visitors to enjoy a brilliant day out on Coniston Lake. There really couldn’t be a better way to see Coniston's spectacular scenery, than from our rebuilt Victorian steam-powered yacht. Working with a great crew, you’ll welcome visitors aboard and ensure that all safety procedures are carried out and adhered to. With your keen eye for detail, you’ll carry out a year round maintenance programme of the yacht whilst ensuring that the office and workshops continue to be presented to the highest standards too. You’ll also be constantly thinking of new ways in which we could raise further vital income.

Who we're looking for
You’ve a smile and a story for everyone. That’s something all our people have in common. You’ll have a good level of general education and hold an MCA Boatmasters’ Licence Tier 2 Level 1. As you’ll be working with a wide range of people, you’ll have excellent communication skills and have a passion for providing the highest levels of customer care. We’d also like you to have some maintenance experience and if you’re used to selling and handling cash, that’s even better.
