Description

Curve is a leading producing theatre, creating compelling creative experiences for all those who live, learn, visit and work in Leicester. Under the leadership of Chief Executive, Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, Curve has developed a reputation for producing, programming and touring a bold and diverse programme of musicals, plays, new work and dance. All of this is presented alongside a dynamic mix of community engagement and learning opportunities, which firmly places audiences and communities at the heart of everything we do.

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of People who will lead on the creation and delivery of the theatre’s HR and people plan to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) sits at the heart of all activities. The postholder will liaise with SMT, Trustees and colleagues to provide strategic counsel, advice and support on all matters including recruitment and selection, employee relations and employment law, as well as ensuring all activities delivered adhere to the theatre’s safeguarding policy. The successful candidate will oversee all training and development plans across the organisation, ensuring colleagues are suitably trained for their roles and continuously developed.

As Head of People you will oversee the day-to-day management of the HR team, collaborate with colleagues from across the organisation to devise and develop HR and organisational development initiatives and business strategies for Curve. Sound understanding and knowledge of employment legislation, EDI, GDPR and HR best practice are key, as well as the ability to drive key HR initiatives that support the culture, values and ambitions of the theatre. A knowledge of online training systems and experience of working with a Board of Trustees is desirable.

The successful candidate will be CIPD qualified (or equivalent level of ability and experience) and have at least three years’ experience of working in a management position in an HR/ people department. An interest in theatre or the arts is essential, but experience of working in the cultural sector is not required.

We are an inclusive organisation, from our trustees and team members to our audience and participants. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where difference is a strength and every unique voice and skill is recognised and valued. We want to ensure we reflect the communities we serve and therefore we particularly welcome applicants from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds, D/deaf & disabled communities and from individuals who are underrepresented in the cultural sector.
