Description
Assistant Director – SEND
Children & Young People
Education, Skills & Early Years
Ref: AD2/OL-57014
Salary: £72,983 - £81,738 per annum
Based: Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham OL1 1UT
Role Overview:
This is an exciting time to join Oldham Council and an opportunity to make a real difference to children in our borough.
The Department for Education has recognised the significant improvements Oldham has made across our SEND system, which has been underpinned and driven by effective leadership and co-production across all agencies in the partnership. We are now seeking an outstanding AD SEND to lead and manage a high performing service into the future to help build on our successes and bring alive our SEND Strategy for Oldham.
Key Responsibilities:
• To lead, develop and implement effective strategies to achieve improved outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
• To be accountable for the deployment of resources to support a SEND system in Oldham that provides excellent support to families within a framework of achieving great value for money.
• To be able to advise, challenge and support decision-makers at all levels, including in schools and settings, elected members and executive leadership.
• To be the lead officer in ensuring readiness for Ofsted/CQC inspections, with an advanced knowledge of all relevant regulatory frameworks.
With the knowledge and drive to support our partnership to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND, you will be a dynamic pacesetter with the credibility to support and lead a number of specialist teams and the empathy to shape services which have children, young people and their parents and carers at their heart. In addition, you will be responsible for large budgets, be able to lead on commissioning and will be held accountable for the delivery of high performing, efficient services. In return, we will support you in your professional development to become the best you can be.
You will be joining a council which believes in the power of inclusive communities and our collective ability to ensure no one is left behind. We want all children in Oldham to thrive and so if you feel you can support, develop, and implement this ambition, we would love to hear from you.
If you would like to explore this exciting opportunity, please contact Richard Lynch, Director of Education, Skills and Early Years on 07971 655257 or at[email protected] for an informal discussion.
