Patient Transport Service Crew - Ambulance Support - Casual (x6 positions required)
Location: Based in Paddock Wood in Kent (covering the Greater London area)
Contract type: Casual hours (as and when required)
Hours: Shift patterns are 8am to 8pm (12hrs) one to four days per week (can include weekends if required).
Salary: £9.42 per hour

We currently have x6 exciting opportunities, for experienced and caring individuals to join our team in the South East of England on a casual basis, to support our patient transport service.

This role starts on the 1st of April.

You will work as part of a team responsible for providing safe and effective patient transport for people within the South East area. The role involves driving, or assisting as part of a crew, patients with different requirements based on their mobility classification.

You will play an important role in conveying patients in a safe, comfortable, and sympathetic manner, observing road and driving conditions at all times. Our services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and we apply the same standards to our service delivery across the whole of the UK. Our fleet and equipment are comparable with those deployed by NHS services.

This role is casual covering a seven days per week service. Shift patterns are 8am to 8pm (12hrs) each day and for casual staff can range from one to four days per week and can include weekends if required.

You are required to drive a service vehicle as part of the job so a full manual transmission driving licence is essential.

In order to proceed candidates must be able to attend the training dates on:

Zoom sessions:
Friday 1st April 5.30pm - 9pm (Roles and Responsibilities)
Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd, both 9am - 2pm (Midas Theory).
Wednesday 27th April 5.30pm - 9pm (Patient Centred Care). (This is also on 14th April if preferred)

Face to face training at Paddock Wood (9am to 5pm)

13th April - MIDAS
23rd April - Safer Handling
24th April - Safer Handling
25th April - First Aid
26th April - First Aid

In England, we provide urgent and emergency ambulance support to the North East, South Central, and South East Coast NHS Ambulance Trusts. What you'll bring to the role

Your warm, caring nature and positive approach will bring comfort to patients. You'll be sensitive when working with vulnerable people and have no trouble going the extra mile to make them feel comfortable, safe and cared for.

Your previous experience, as well as understanding and awareness of the differing physical needs of our service users and a genuine interest in their well-being; and your desire to help people in your local community.

This role might be for you if you have the following:

  • You've got a full, clean drivers licence (held for a minimum of two years)
  • You have GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • You are passionate about bringing your past experience of patient care to the British Red Cross
  • You are flexible - comfortable working shifts including unsocial hours, bank holidays, evenings and weekends as required
  • Able to commute to a base in Paddock Wood, Kent.
