Description

Natural Resources Wales is an ambitious organisation with a unique remit that is breaking new ground in its sustainable management of Wales’s precious natural resources. When natural resources and ecosystems flourish, society and the economy thrive as well. Established in 2013 by Welsh Government, this pan-Wales organisation of over 2000 people with a budget of £225m is the first of its kind in the world to bring together the tools needed to manage, maintain, enhance and sustain natural resources. NRW has a unique legislative framework within Wales that gives exceptional scope for this role to make a real difference on a significant scale. The organisation wants to be one of the first to leave the natural environment in a better state than it found it in, and to help improve the well-being and prosperity of the people of Wales. The Welsh Government has declared both Climate and Nature Emergencies. NRW has a key role to play in responding to these, as part of a wider effort to tackle these emergencies.

An internal restructure has created a vacancy in NRW’s Operations Leadership Team which offers a rare opportunity for someone with a passion for the natural environment, organisational design & development, and internal and external collaboration. The Head of Organisational Development will lead a team of 23 staff across Organisational Development, Workforce Planning, Training & Development, Diversity & Inclusion, Staff Engagement, Health Safety & Wellbeing and Welsh Language, and an annual budget of £1.9m.

The appointee will play a key strategic role in leading the transformation of NRW to deliver the sustainable management of Wales’ natural resources and help tackle the climate and nature emergencies. They will enable and support the development of NRW into a high performing organisation that puts the organisation’s values front and centre.

Someone who has the passion and energy to help achieve these goals will be well suited to this opportunity. It will be complex and challenging, but the scope for making a real difference will make it enormously worthwhile. The closing date for applications is 23 March 2022 at 12pm.
