We are looking for an engaging new member of staff to lead on engagement and connections with people for the Exmoor coast project.

The Exmoor Coast project is a hugely exciting project which spans the coast of Exmoor. We're undertaking a variety of conservation work, from tree planting to new species introductions. This role will be sharing all of the work being done here with the community and visitors through marketing, engagement and volunteering.

Your role will involve four main work streams-

Communicating our cause

Lead on communications and interpretation which lead locals and visitors to understand and engage with the project.

Programming and events

Develop a programming offer over time by working with rangers and visitor experience teams.

Volunteering and community outreach

Lead on community outreach, targeting new audiences and developing the volunteering offer.

Working as one team

Develop great relationships with both North Devon and Somerset teams.

The location of this role can be flexible, there are offices in Somerset and North Devon along the Exmoor Coast.
The National Trust's Exmoor Coast Project is an ambitious project working towards restoring a healthy, beautiful, and natural environment at a landscape scale, creating habitats that are bigger, in better condition, where there are more of them, and they are joined up. One of our core aims is to reconnect over 35 miles of coastal woodland, working with our farm tenants and neighbouring landowners to create that coastal corridor. In total our ambition is to plant 165,000 trees on West Exmoor across four farms with 253 hectares of new temperate rainforest habitat created.

The Exmoor Coast works across four workstreams: Land and Nature - delivering a strong nature foundation Commercial development - making sure we have the facilities in place to generate income Tourism and VE - getting the right visual identify and providing first class experiences Partnerships - working better together and linking up the landscape.

The project works to make landscape change through various ambitious conservation projects, engaging people with nature, whilst providing high quality outdoor and nature-based experiences for visitors.
As Senior Programming & Partnerships Officer, you will lead on engagement of the project and develop the strategy and approach to partnerships & programming. Identifying and implementing ways in which to work strategically with community, funding and commercial partners to bringing the project.

Whether you’re planning, delivering or evaluating the offer, you’ll always be thinking about the showcasing the coast, to widen our audience and deliver our engagement aims. You’ll be doing it in a collaborative, empathic way – being able to adapt your plans and style to the needs of partners, team members, and audiences.

You’ll play a significant role in shaping and delivering a year-round public engagement programme of visitor experiences and participation opportunities including identifying new community, cultural and commercial partnerships. You’ll make sure that programmes and events are shaped by our audiences’ needs and interests, you’ll evaluate and feed learning into future plans to enable continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Experience of working on high-quality, creative projects and innovative, accessible visitor programming. Experience of working with community, heritage, funding and commercial partners to produce events and activities within the arts, culture, heritage or visitor attraction sector;
  • Experience of referring to audience data and feedback to improve and develop an offer, connecting people with art, culture, nature, heritage and the outdoors and ensuring these assets deliver more benefit to audiences
  • Experience of building, maintaining and developing partnership relationships in order to offer engagement opportunities to audiences of visitors, volunteers or community participants
  • Strong people skills, enabling good working relationships with those in your team and across the property. Experience of working with external agencies, funding bodies, contractors and organisations
  • Experience in working with volunteers, both with recruitment and management. Experience working on Marketting and interpretation projects, in new and create ways, including digital content.
