Learning Support Assistant

A learning support assistant is required at a charming little Catholic primary school in the leafy borough of Westminster to start ASAP

The main duties will include:

The school are looking to appoint a learning support Assistant to look after a child in Reception with Autism working 1:1 with them on a daily basis. This is a full time long term position to begin ASAP. This young boy can be easily distracted and finds it difficult to stay on task but has a vibrant personality and is well liked by staff and classmates. The student is non-verbal so working on literacy will be a key part of the role and it will be important for the successful applicant to build rapport quickly with him. The successful candidate would need to be really patient and kind but also firm and fair and consistent. This is an amazing opportunity for a graduate looking to kick start a career in education or an experienced TA to join a close knit team in an inner city London mainstream school. The contract is initially for the remainder of the 2021/22 academic year but a permanent position will be available for the successful candidate.

An ideal candidate will:

• Hold NVQ Level 2 or higher in Child Care or Education or relevant experience

• Have an excellent command of core subjects (graduates encouraged to apply)

• Have experience working with Autism (looked favourably on)

The school is situated in a fantastic central London location with excellent transport links close to Pimlico station. This is a well-established school in the Westminster borough and has a tight knit team who welcome new comers.

The atmosphere of the school has been described as busy and friendly and staff will often socialise together on a Friday afternoon as they work closely with a neighbouring primary school.

The school boats several multi-purpose outdoor areas and classrooms are larger than average given the school’s central location. A vegetable garden, several playing courts and spacious sports hall allow students to access a wide curriculum in addition to various extra-curricular and after school
