County Durham is a vibrant, and diverse place supported by an ambitious County Council. Our aspirations and commitment for our communities and our place mean that we push hard for success.
We are the largest council in the North-East region and one of the largest upper tier local authorities nationally. With scale and connectivity, we are a centre for business, innovation and culture.
We have brilliant people, working in an amazing place and we are on a journey to really put County Durham on the map. Our strategic approach to employment, natural and cultural assets create opportunity. Our Inclusive Economic Strategy will build on our success and set out a forward agenda that further accelerates our ambition. Our investment programme is exceptional and spans the county from private investment, a highly commercial local approach and central government funding we are delivering multi-billion investment plans for the county.
To support our transformation two new roles have been created to support senior capacity and capability. We are looking for innovative and forward-thinking leaders to help drive our exciting agenda forward. Both roles will report to our Corporate Director, Regeneration, Economy and Growth, and will be key members of the senior management team of the Regeneration Economy and Growth Directorate.
You will lead the management and development of an innovative, driven, modern and strategic service ensuring the delivery of the Councils economic development services, focussing in particular on strategy, inward investment, major scheme development, funding and skills, to enable growth. You will be an innovative thinker with strong experience of working collaboratively with businesses and partners, ensuring social value, and taking an inclusive approach to development.
We’re looking for someone to quickly understand the County Durham context, a proven track record of delivery and working with a variety of partners in a high-profile leadership role. You’ll need imagination and people skills to lead your own and other teams through the development and promotion of our vision and the strategy.
If you relish challenge, can work at pace and have the energy, enthusiasm and skills to deliver the best possible outcomes for residents and communities, then we would like to hear from you.
