This is a wonderful opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to join this Slough school and to help shape its future. This is a full time, permanent post commencing September 2022. Main/Upper Pay Scale plus SEN allowance is available for this role depending on experience.

Inclusion is central to everything this school do. They are looking for a qualified teacher with expert SEN knowledge and experience to join their team as their SENCO. The SENCO will be required to manage the provision for their pupils with additional needs.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Put provision in place to ensure that progress of pupils with SEND improves relative to those without SEND.
  • Ensure funding results in the effective deployment of staff and resources.
  • Support all staff in understanding the needs of SEND pupils.
  • Monitor progress towards targets for pupils with SEND.
  • Analyse and interpret relevant school, local and national data.
  • Liaise with staff, parents, external agencies and other schools to co-ordinate their contribution, provide maximum support and ensure continuity of provision.

The successful SENCO will have the following requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher status with 5 years or more teaching experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the current SEND Code of Practice
  • The ability to lead staff in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEND children
  • Experience in working with pupils with a range of different abilities and needs: SEND, EAL, disadvantaged and vulnerable
  • To be able to work effectively with the Headteacher and SLT to achieve excellence in outcomes for all pupils
  • Clear understanding of provision mapping, early identification of children with SEND needs, assessment tools and successful interventions to drive progress.
  • Excellent communication skills with all members of the school community
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • The necessary communication skills and knowledge of SEND practice, enabling effective liaison with a variety of external agencies
  • Candidates should have, or be prepared to study for, the National SENCo qualification
