Job Title: Head of Volunteering
Hours: 21 hours/3 days per week
Salary: £45,943 per annum, pro-rated
Type of Employment: Permanent
Dept and Location: Home based (occasional days in the office/other location)
Line Manager: Director of People and Culture
Direct Reports: 1 x Volunteering Manager
As Head of Volunteering at Teenage Cancer Trust you will bring inspiration and leadership to the role and help us achieve our aim to grow the potential, capacity and diversity of volunteering across the organisation and deliver a great experience for volunteers.
High level relationship skills are absolutely critical to this role, partnering with senior managers, line managers and other stakeholders to develop credibility and business impact. You will influence and shape the volunteering strategic plan, working with your team to build our volunteer resource through innovative opportunities and deepening our community connections. You’ll be someone who is knowledgeable and experienced in volunteering and passionate about how it can transform an organisation.
You must have solid experience of leading and growing a volunteering function in an active fundraising environment, with the fundraising team as key stakeholders. You will have expertise in using data and analytics to evaluate and demonstrate the value that volunteering brings.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
At Teenage Cancer Trust we have an ambitious new strategy, Putting Young People First, which aims to ensure every young person with cancer in the UK has equal access to world class care. To help us achieve that we have an organisational goal focused on making us a great place to work and volunteer.
The Head of Volunteering will lead a small and enthusiastic team and will play a key role in delivering our organisational goal by developing a high-quality and inclusive volunteering approach and will be responsible for the development and delivery of our volunteering strategic plan. They will provide inspiration and leadership, enabling and supporting all parts of the organisation to successfully engage a diverse range of volunteers to support delivery of our strategic goals.
They will influence and shape the role of volunteering and build the capacity, capability, flexibility and diversity of our volunteer resource. They will help to build new and innovative volunteering approaches and develop and deepen our community relationships so that we can realise the potential of existing and emerging volunteering opportunities that support our strategy. High level relationship building is key, as they and the team will support, advise and collaborate with senior managers, line managers and other stakeholders and develop the credibility and impact of the volunteering function.
