The Role
Astrea Academy Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Safeguarding to join their team!
Astrea is an ambitious, dynamic and young trust with a mission to tackle historic educational disadvantage. Our academies are based across South Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire, often in areas which have experienced generationally poor educational opportunities. Our role is to change that. We want to play our part in the social regeneration of these areas
As our Head of Safeguarding, you will lead Astrea’s Central Safeguarding Team in providing quality assurance and ensuring compliance in safeguarding matters across the Trust. Our aim is to offer our students, staff and communities the safe, happy and thriving schools they deserve.
As our Head of Safeguarding, you will be:
Leading on relevant policy development, including ownership of the Trust-wide safeguarding policy and contributing to reviews of wider policies Leading on reporting to the executive board and, alongside the executive, to Trustees on matters of safeguarding and child protection Leading the Trust’s safeguarding quality assurance activities, including through undertaking safeguarding and SCR audits and record reviews, identifying improvement priorities and driving remedial actions Owning and developing the Trust’s quality assurance framework and emergent DSL standards framework
We are looking for individuals who have:
Extensive educational safeguarding experience Expert safeguarding knowledge (Staff, Students and Families) Ability to analysis and resolve complex issues, including conflict resolution Experience of working in a multi-academy trust or other group across more than one Local Authority area (desirable)
