We are seeking an experienced and well organised Metal Fabricator / Scenery Builder to join our busy Workshop Department.

The role will work with the Workshop Manager and other members of the workshop team to construct the metal work elements of scenery (for Scottish Opera projects and external clients) from technical drawings. It will also ensure the efficient delivery of high quality scenery, with a focus on metal work fabrication and will oversee the day to day operation of the metalwork department.

We are looking for someone who has relevant work experience in a metal working environment coupled with a knowledge of related Health and Safety Legislation, preferably within a theatre, film or arts context. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and relationship building skills, be a great problem solver and have a desire to learn new skills.

Key Skills/Knowdlege Required

  • A knowledge of Heath and Safety legislation relating to metalworking and scenic construction

  • Ability to read drawings

  • A welding certification

  • A good level of woodworking skills

    Other desirable skills

  • Experience of TIG and / or aluminium welding

  • A basic level of I.T. competency including AutoCAD or other CAD software

  • Holder of a current CSCS card

  • A current Full Clean Driving Licence valid in the UK

Additional Information

  • Required to work outwith normal working hours

  • Travel across Scotland will be required
