Description

This role is a permanent 0.8 FTE role and can be based from our York or Newcastle regional offices. Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, highly experienced Philanthropy Consultant to join our regional consultancy team. We’re bigger than you think, we’re more complicated than we appear and we’re larger scale than you’d imagine.

We’ve got passionate people in all our teams, and we’ve got so much more we want to achieve. We’re for ever, for everyone and we really mean that. We don’t want to stop at 5.5 million members, and we want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy access to our places, so we need to reach new audiences in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them without losing the hearts and minds of those that are already with us.

What it's like to work here
The National Trust Consultancy is the home to specialists in every field of our work. A national consultancy, where resources are shared across disciplines and boundaries, it’s a great repository of skills, talent, and experience. The diversity and quality of expertise within the Consultancy will enable the places in our care to benefit from an extraordinary range of creative and innovative thinking, as well as deep expertise in all matters relating to our twin purpose of caring for the nation’s heritage and landscapes and making these accessible to all.

You’ll be a member of one of the North’s two Growing Support consultancy teams and your role is key to this team delivering great service to, and growing support for, the region and the Trust as a whole.

What you'll be doing
As a charity, the National Trust relies heavily on the income we generate through our various fundraising activities and channels. We're seeking an individual with a passion for fundraising and for our cause to protect and care for places so people and nature can thrive. We have an ambitious fundraising vision in place and some very exciting new projects on the horizon which we want you to be part of.

As one of two Philanthropy Consultants for the North region, you’ll have a strong skill set and proven track record in securing funds from a range of sources including major donors and charitable trusts. You'll be experienced in developing and delivering large fundraising appeals and campaigns and fundraising plans for major projects, growing individual giving activity, and supporting new fundraising initiatives. You’ll have a gift for building and strengthening special relationships with existing and potential donors and for inspiring your colleagues to ‘think like fundraisers’ to unlock enthusiasm, networks and innovative fundraising opportunities.

As a natural team player, you will be collaborating with Philanthropy Team colleagues and senior management to provide impact reports of the highest quality and an experience that exceeds the expectations of our funders. While the main focus of this role will be to support our places in Yorkshire and the North East, there may also be opportunities to work with teams and projects from across the National Trust.

Your contractual location will be one of our regional hubs, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. The role will also involve travel across the North region and nationally to steward and grow our vital network of supporters so that we can continue to look after the nation’s special places forever, for everyone.
