Description

Be a part of an energetic and vibrant team who are driven by the desire to improve the lives of people living with kidney disease. Our client's vision is the day when everyone lives free from kidney disease.

About you:

They need an experienced science communications professional to help them bring the research they fund to life and tell research stories in compelling ways.

Your excellent story telling skills will help people understand kidney disease and raise awareness, inform supporters about the impact of their work, help their fundraising team generate the income they need and help them promote their work in the media.

You will generate engaging content to raise awareness of kidney disease, kidney health and their vital work in kidney research through their earned and owned channels, including social media, their website and the media. You will also support staff to translate the science into lay terms giving them the tools and knowledge to share the story of their work.

This is a key role sitting in the Marketing and Communications team while working closely with colleagues across the organisation, particularly in the Research and Fundraising teams.

The successful applicant will have excellent writing, communication, interpersonal and networking skills. You will have experience of communicating science to a lay audience and, ideally, research charity experience. You should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be a strong team player capable of working on your own initiative.

About our client:

They are the leading charity dedicated to kidney research in the UK. Their vision is to free lives from kidney disease.

They fund research into all aspects of kidney disease - from understanding the condition, to how we can prevent and treat it. They want to discover better, kinder treatments.

Research has given us life-saving kidney transplants, dialysis machines that filter the blood when the kidneys fail, and drugs to keep us going. But these treatments come at a cost. They can be gruelling, confining, relentless. A transplant is not a cure, they rarely last a lifetime.

Kidney disease still affects three million people in the UK. And one million of those don’t know they are at risk. That’s three million people who are someone’s parents, grandparents, children, friends.

And kidney failure is rising, as are the factors contributing to it, such as diabetes and obesity.

That’s why their work is more essential than ever.

Research is what they do. It is the only way to discover future preventions, treatments and cures. It is vital to keep their loved ones safe. Your support is crucial to make this happen.

They’re here to be heard, to make a difference, to change the future. Kidney disease ends here.
