About Us:
The Customer Services Team at Essex Council has an ambitions transformation program centered on the improving the customer experience, using continuous improvement methodology and principles. The function provides front line services to residents through the Contact Centre, Libraries, Coroners and Registrations Services.
The Customer Operational Intelligence Team is a small, welcoming team of data enthusiasts, committed to using data and insight to measure and monitor performance. We make data accessible to inform decision making and to anticipate future demand. We work closely with the system, resourcing and project teams support in Customer and deliver improvements across the function.
The Analyst role is critical in providing senior leaders and politicians with the information and business intelligence needed for effective leadership, governance and decision making.
About You:
As a Data Analyst you will play a vital role in shaping how we use data and insight to inform our decision making, measure our impact and performance, and explore opportunities for continuous improvement.
You will be required to employ a range of data science, data visualisation and analytical techniques in your work. Typical tasks will include: scoping and development of system / reporting requirements; ‘deep dive’ analyses; mapping; predictive analytics such as demand forecasting or risk stratification, building a data warehouse and developing a suit of accessible data reports and dashboards. This will require working with a wide range of data and evidence sources, data systems and data warehouse. The main applications used will be PowerBI and either R or Python. Work will include supporting colleagues to transition BI reporting from Excel to PowerBI and automating data sources.
You will work with colleagues to develop data led recommendations and present a clear and compelling story using key findings to drive forward decision making through influencing senior leaders.
Location/ Work Style: This role offers hybrid working, with a combination of remote working and working from our office base in Chelmsford. The team currently work together two days a month from the office and will look to increase this in the coming months.
