Description

Senior Content & Social Media Producer

Wellcome is a politically and financially independent global charitable foundation, funded by a £29 billion investment portfolio. We support discovery research into life, health and wellbeing, and we're taking on the three worldwide health challenges: mental health, climate change and health, and infectious disease.

These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won't be solved by science alone.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

Wellcome's Corporate Affairs team works to build and sustain the trust, influence, reputation, and brand that will help us ensure science works for and with the people we seek to benefit.

Wellcome has an opportunity for a Senior Content & Social Media Producer to plan, create, edit, and commission digital content that grows our influence in global health and helps us reach new audiences.

The Senior Content & Social Media Producer will join Corporate Affairs as a key member of the digital communication products team, continuously improving wellcome.org and our social media channels with engaging content that is informed by data and audience insight.

What will I be doing?

In this role you will

  • Lead content production and design for Wellcome's digital communications channels, including website and social media, bringing together content created by the content team, Wellcome staff and external contributors and advocates and making sure it is easy to find, useful and shareable.

  • Plan, write, create, edit and commission content to a quarterly planning cycle that is flexible and can be used cross-channel.

  • Embed an efficient content production process and help to maintain the content calendar to ensure excellent content is published across channels on time.

  • Lead a programme of work to upskill others across Wellcome to create digital content, including being able to use the content management system (CMS) and write in Wellcome's tone of voice ('hub and spoke').

  • Advise and act as a sounding board for Digital Content & Social Media Producers in the team, particularly on community management and social media monitoring.

  • Embed our anti-racist and anti-ableist principles and involve minoritised communities when developing digital content.

We are looking for someone with experience of:

  • Significant digital content planning and production experience, producing for a digital agency and/or in-house digital content position.

  • Significant experience with scheduling and posting content on social platforms.

  • Excellent news sense and editorial judgement, demonstrating an understanding of how to find the 'topline' that will engage audiences, attention to accuracy, and how to throw the story forward or add value to an ongoing narrative.

  • The ability to project manage from concept to delivery.

  • Significant experience of writing, editing and creating content for different audiences.

  • Experience of setting and working to a busy schedule, working under pressure in a fast-paced environment and to tight deadlines.

  • Experience of using content management systems, social media platforms and Google Analytics.

  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy.
