We are now looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer to specialise in Windows, Storage & VMWare, you’ll support the day-to-day Infrastructure operations activities and provide technical advice to the team and wider department. Your key responsibilities will include the effective design, provision, configuration, availability, and maintenance of Windows, VMWare and storage platforms and associated systems.
About the role
- Support, maintenance and optimisation of the systems, including system upgrades, patching and new deployments.
- Monitor and manage server performance and availability.
- Support, design and maintain backup services using Veeam, including failover test/disaster recovery procedures.
- Evaluate and make recommendations for hardware and software necessary for infrastructure solutions and refresh projects.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, taking ownership of issues and seeing them through to resolution.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and third parties to resolve escalated technical problems and requests.
- Provide out-of-hours support, as part of a rota, for troubleshooting and resolving issues.
About you
- Demonstrable experience in supporting, designing and maintaining:
- Window server platforms, including from version 2016.
- Microsoft Active Directory and associated services.
- VMWare/ESXi platforms.
- Azure AD.
- Experience of Netapp OnTap design, administration and troubleshooting.
- Excellent understanding of Cisco UCS administration, upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Great communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at both business and technical level.
