Hybrid - Yorkshire

Are you an expert relationship manager ready to use your partnership skills to empower local communities? Charity People is helping the incredible team at Local Trust to find a talented Area Coordinator covering Yorkshire, providing information, advice and high-quality bespoke support to volunteers on the ground and in communities.

Through their innovative Big Local programme, Local Trust provides long term funding to local people accompanied by a range of wrap around support, working alongside communities to build confidence and capacity to create positive lasting change. Having made huge strides forward since its inception in 2012, Big Local is now evolving its tailored support with ambition to leave a lasting legacy. This brand-new Area Coordinator role is a part of that evolution.

About the role:

You'll be the primary contact for partnerships in your designated patch, working alongside communities throughout their journey with Big Local.

The support that you offer will vary considerably and be determined by the needs of the Big Local areas you are assigned to, ranging from: helping resident-led partnerships to plan priorities; coordinating the practical aspects of support to identify need and build capacity; guiding and maintaining complex stakeholder relationships; and of course ensuring funding administration is on track and timely. Some partnerships require intensive support, others are reaching the end of their funding journey and already establishing a legacy.

About the person:

  • You're an engaging and confident relationship builder, able to establish and develop positive connections with residents, communities and wider stakeholders, and able to showcase meaningful, sustainable partnerships in previous roles.

  • You're a brilliant problem solver. Your innovative approach enables you to work through challenge, negotiate effectively and nurture collaboration.

  • You could well have significant experience of community engagement and capacity building, but equally you might have transferable skills from a partnership development role in the wider charity sector. An understanding of the voluntary funding landscape - how to prepare, monitor and review budgets and work plans - would give you a head start in this role.

  • You're highly organised, proactive and able to travel across your geographical patch to meet the demands of the role, understanding this might mean occasional evening commitments. Local Trust has a flexible, life and family-friendly approach, so time will be given in lieu and encouraged to manage your own diary.

If you are as excited by this role as we are, please send your most recent CV initially to[email protected] at Charity People, your consultant for this role. We'll then be in touch with lots more information, including the role profile.
