Overview of Role

We are now recruiting for a Research Associate who will be working with the Chair, who in addition to her role at SHM, is one of the country’s leading academics in the field of social anthropology and prosperity.

Main duties of the role include:

  • Carrying out social research across a number of projects
  • Performing appropriate statistical test and literature reviews
  • Writing reports and academic manuscripts for publication in top journals
  • Coordinating and planning academic visits and trips
  • Supporting the origination of events and general admin support
  • Managing project specific websites as well as the Chair’s personal website
  • Working across a number of institutions, both academic and professional services, as part of our Chair’s numerous roles in public and academic spheres

Our ideal candidate will have;

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in anthropology, psychology, social science or a related field

Experience:

  • Experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in conducting desk research and fieldwork with a high level of cultural awareness
  • Insights into human behaviour
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research and policy analysis
  • Experience in writing for both academic and non-specialist audiences
  • Experience in cross-cultural relationship building
  • Published research and writing

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • IT proficiency at advanced user level (Spreadsheet, Word Processing, Database, Email, Web based applications)
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis software such as STATA or SPSS
  • Knowledge of current affairs both in the UK and globally
  • Up to date with current developments in anthropology and social sciences
  • Good negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Foreign language desirable
