This post is situated within the Economic Development and External Funding Team, part of the Planning and City Regeneration service. Reporting to the External Funding Programme Officer, the team of Mentors will engage with, assess, mentor and proactively support a wide range of short term unemployed, economically inactive and long term unemployed Workways+ and Swansea Working project participants aged 25 and over, who have complex barriers to employment in order to assist them with gaining sustainable employment or with entry into work experience or volunteering opportunities and where appropriate signposting to relevant specialist agencies.

Participants are also matched with local businesses, helping them gain the vital experience needed to find long term employment. Led by Neath Port Talbot Council in partnership the City and County of Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, the Workways+ Project is backed with £17.3 million from the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government. The post holder may also be required to work as part of other Employability programmes aside from Workways+ and Swansea Working, such as but not limited to the new DWP Kickstart programme.

The post is part-funded by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government. One full time post at 37 hours is being advertised on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2023, subject to grant funding.
