They are looking for a qualified and experienced management accountant with unusually good commercial and analytical skills. Previous experience at providing commercial support and input to a senior management team within a fast paced environment is required. Overall purpose:

You will form part of the Senior Management team and play a lead role in not only managing the company’s entire accounting function but also contributing to the business strategy. You will have responsibility for ensuring all reporting and analysis is produced in a timely manner, cash management and supervision and development of an Assistant Accountant.

As a Senior Management Accountant, you may find yourself wearing several different hats. The role effectively bridges the gap between accounting, organisational leadership, andfinancial strategy. Doing it well requires keen attention to detail and an ability to focus on the bigger picture while treading the line between increasing efficiency, cost reduction and improving accuracy.

Key accountabilities and tasks

You will have responsibility for all accounting-related activities, from invoicing and accounts payable, to general ledger and cost accounting. At the same time, you will also inform thefuture direction of the accounting function through setting controls around spending and drawing up new internal policies.

  • Production of accurate, consistent and timely monthly management accounts for the Board including results, KPI’s, detailed variance analysis, forecasts and commentary
  • Contribution to the preparation of Company's Financial Plan and budgets in conjunction with the Directors
  • Provide commercial insight on the business performance and identify new business opportunities
  • Bank reconciliations, cash-flow statements and monitoring
  • Develop the forecasting models (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash-flow)
  • Prepare and submit information to statutory authorities including HMRC and other government departments (including providing statutory returns for tax, VAT etc)
  • Capital planning and investment appraisal
  • Maintain a fixed asset register
  • Oversee all tax and regulatory compliance issues in conjunction with our external Chartered Accountant professional advisers
  • Ensure the integrity of the Company's ledgers and associated systems
  • Liaise with external advisors on the preparation of statutory financial information
  • Liaise with the company’s bankers and debt facility provider to maintain a sound commercial relationship
  • Partnering with the senior leadership team and directors of the business
  • Management and development of direct reports
  • Be part of the Senior Management Team driving the business forward
  • Prepare and run company payroll
  • Manage insurances
  • Credit control
  • Management of both sales and purchase ledgers
  • Review company internal controls
  • Seek improvements in the Company's information systems (manual and electronic).
