Description

Oxford Brookes is one of the UK’s leading modern universities and enjoys an international reputation for teaching excellence and innovation as well as strong links with business and industry. We shape tomorrow through our unique blend of the modern and the traditional, embracing diversity, seeking out the new and excelling in education and research. Our 2035 Strategy sets out a bold and ambitious vision under the guiding principles of inclusivity, confidence, enterprising creativity, connectedness and generosity of spirit.

We are fully committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and we now want to make a step change in our achievements and progress against EDI goals. We are looking for an experienced and expert individual to set up a new unit working with senior leaders across the University and reporting to the Vice-Chancellor’s Group and the Board of Governors.

The Director will be our senior subject matter expert on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, bringing a passion and focus to our delivery and achievements, providing clear leadership and working collaboratively to remove obstacles to the achievement of equity of outcomes for all students and staff.

The successful candidate will have the vision, passion and empathy to take a fresh look at the University’s EDI Strategy and develop a joined-up approach that moves beyond each protected characteristic to a more holistic intersectional and impactful approach. Confident working with senior leaders and a naturally collaborative partner for colleagues at all levels, providing creative solutions and modelling inclusive behaviour for others to follow, the post holder will have the opportunity to make real change happen and make a difference to all staff and students.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates and particularly welcome applicants from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic groups who are currently under-represented at this level. Oxford Brookes is a member of the Disability Confident scheme and guarantees to interview all disabled candidates who meet the minimum essential criteria for this role.

Oxford Brookes is in an exciting phase in our development and is an ambitious community which welcomes talented leaders. To find out more about this exciting opportunity please visit www.andersonquigley.com/brookes-edi.

Closing date for applications is noon, Monday 27 June.

The University has adopted equality, diversity and inclusion as core values. We welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates whatever their background, and especially from BAME candidates who are under-represented in our workforce.
