Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced Project Manager to lead a project to transform access to collections information and how we use our Collections Management System in the National Trust.
The Trust cares for an internationally important collection and over the next few years we will be investing in developing our cataloguing and data standards, and the system we use to manage information and make it accessible to our audiences to explore, enjoy and use.
We’re looking for someone with proven experience of managing information projects, developing/procuring business systems, and large data cleaning/migration projects, ideally within the cultural heritage/museums sector.
For more information about the project see the attached project overview.
Contract: This is a 3-year fixed-term contract/secondment opportunity.
The Collections Information Access project has several workstreams including reviewing/replacing the Trust’s Collections Management System, implementing simpler and more efficient ways of working, developing new collections cataloguing and data standards, and a systematic data improvement programme.
You will be the voice of the project. You’ll help the organisation and project team understand the definition of success, scope, and outcomes so that colleagues are clear about what the project will achieve and the impact on them. You’ll ensure project team members understand their roles and responsibilities by organising and facilitating meetings and developing and implementing a Communication Plan. You will work alongside an IT Project Manager to develop the Business Case, and manage timescales, cost and quality. And working closely with the Project Sponsor and Client, you’ll ensure the project delivers the Client’s Brief and the system requirements.
You are experienced in managing business change and are people-focused, able to work collaboratively and communicate well with a range of people. From translating technical data into understandable information, to hearing, understanding and analysing the views of others, you’ll be able to help everyone understand what’s happening.
We’ll shortlist against the following criteria:
- Experience of successfully delivering projects/programmes end to end, including defining resources, leading procurement, developing and managing project teams, writing and implementing successful communication plans, and matrix management.
- A recognised Project (APM PMQ /Prince or similar) or programme Management (MSP) qualification, with evidence of ongoing CPD in your career.
- Excellent communication, problem solving and influencing skills and be confident liaising with Senior Leaders, demonstrating experience of managing complex and contentious external stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge or experience of complex business systems, ideally collections management systems, and the documentation and practice of the cultural heritage sector (museums, archives, libraries, heritage).
