Head of East Region (East) - Infrastructure Projects

Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our team in the East of England in a combined Head of Region and Head Infrastructure. The role involves working closely with the Regional Director to ensure that Historic England`s work in the region results in well-informed decisions that serve people and places well and keeps places alive for current and future generations.

This is a full time, permanent post.

We are open to hybrid working where you will be based in both the office and home.

What you will be doing

You will be responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplinary and multi-skilled team in the region, establishing and embedding new collaborative ways of working. You will be focused on continuous improvement in excellent customer and staff experience, ensure performance targets are met and that the regional team has effective processes and systems to deliver its work to the highest standard.

As Regions Group lead for infrastructure projects, working with the Head of Development Advice, you will have oversight of the delivery of infrastructure casework across England. You will take a strategic overview of proposed infrastructure projects; ensuring strong relationships with internal colleagues, developing strong relationships with external stakeholders and an oversight of Service Level Agreements; seeking efficiencies; scoping opportunities for income generation; and advising on the handling of casework.

What we are looking for

-Experience of setting up and successfully leading multi-disciplinary teams.

-Experience of infrastructure planning and of the partners engaged in it.

-A very good understanding of the national planning system and legislative context in so far as it relates to infrastructure casework and the sustainable management of the historic environment.

-Excellent written and spoken communication skills capable of spanning range of audiences with proven experience of explaining clearly recommendations and judgment.

-Broad knowledge of the history and historic environment of England.

-Experience of listing casework, architectural investigation or development advice casework
