About the role:

Are you curious? Are you interested in understanding how things work?

Can you break down challenges and identify how things could be improved?

Are you interested in delivering change to one of the world's most iconic institutions?

The British Museum's IT department is looking for a proactive individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as excellent oral and written communication ability to help drive the Museum's digital and technology transformation.

In this role, you will get the opportunity to work with stakeholders across the entire Museum, from Capital Planning and Programme Management to Archives, to understand and document their challenges and technology needs. Using this information, you will help identify, research and analyse the available options to develop recommendations for how the Museum should proceed to best meet the stakeholders' needs. Finally, you will help procure and deliver the digital and technology solutions to improve the Museum's services and offerings.

This is a unique opportunity to deliver change to one of the world's most iconic and valuable cultural heritage institutions and be part of a community of people passionate about the values of the Museum and its 260-year legacy of providing free access to the history of the world.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Elicit stakeholder requirements and concerns using the most appropriate interview technique to the task (e.g. document analysis, interviews, workshops, surveys, shadowing, etc.);
  • Manage requirements throughout the project lifecycle, in collaboration with Product Owners and the Project Manager, to ensure benefits are realised;
  • Apply analytical skills and thinking to identify, evaluate and recommend solution options for large complex problem spaces. Provide thought-out and well documented recommendations based on the business requirements.

About you:

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level, or with equivalent experience, and will have previous experience in a similar role. It is essential that you have outstanding relationship building, commercial and written communication skills, and are comfortable communicating with all levels of the organisation. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply multiple solutions to business problems will likewise be essentials to the role.
