The vision of the Government Finance Function is to ensure that we put finance at the heart of decision making. We are at the forefront of the Government’s functional agenda, building a broad and inclusive function that is breaking down silos, sharing the excellent best practice that exists across Government, and establishing effective relationships with other functions.

The Strategy, Engagement and Performance team is a dynamic, high-profile team at the heart of the Government Finance Function (GFF). The team sits in HM Treasury and leadson setting the strategy for the GFF, working with departments to ensure we focus on the things that really matter and to drive better outcomes across government.

We are looking for a Business Operations Manager to join us. This role offers the chance to lead and innovate in a fast-paced and vital area. You will be working within the Communications and Engagement team and closely with senior leaders from across the Government Finance Function to help engage the wider community in the functions vision and priorities. You willlead on content development and coordination for our engagement activity, including the annual GFF conference.

There are four key areas you will focus on in your role, supporting the team from strategy to through to implementation:

  • Community - Support the delivery of effective engagement activity by coordinating, developing and commissioning content for our in-person, virtual and hybrid events
  • Programme management - Develop processes and detailed schedules to support the delivery of effective communication and engagement activity for the function, using this to improve structure and control and to sight senior leaders on progress
  • Tracking and evaluation - tracking the delivery of actions and ensure feedback is implemented and reflected in the team's work plans and activity
  • Governance - Support the Deputy Director of Strategy, Engagement and Performance and Head of Communications and Engagement, to develop appropriate briefings and papers to help senior partners deliver core messages clearly and effectively

What you’ll bring to the role

We are looking for someone who can be creative and proactive in promoting and sharing the fantastic work happening across the function with the Government Finance Function community. You'll be able to communicate clear arguments and advice based on analysis, judgement and experience. You'll have a good understanding of how the strategies and activities of the team add new value and meet the diverse needs of all partners. You'll manage conflicting deadlines through effective planning and prioritising. Experience of managing and delivering large scale visits and events is a must.
