Are you currently working in education and looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people? Are you missing the chance to work with smaller group sizes so that your work can have a greater impact? Would you like to take part in off-site enrichment activities? Do you want a rewarding career with opportunities for progression where you will experience genuine job satisfaction?
The Role
Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and nurturing Tutor to work on their Telford project to support young people to thrive both inside and outside of the classroom. You will be required to provide 1:1 learning and support to off-site learners. When you are not providing learning and support to learners off-site or on-site, you will support learners on enrichment activities, contribute to SEN/D paperwork and help with barrier busting to enable learners to get one step closer to education, training and work.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality 1:1 teaching sessions, person-centred youth work and support to our learners and must have a real ability to engage young people who struggle to see the value in education. Like all staff at the organisation, you will be responsible for transporting learners from home to their place of study and back home again, so it is essential that you have your own car that is in sound working order and be willing to add the necessary business insurance.
Essential
- Must have a minimum of two years’ teaching experience
- Must own your own car, have business insurance in place and ensure that tax and MOT are maintained. You must be willing to carry out student pick-ups and drop-offs (mileage paid at 45p per mile)
- Must have great youth work skills and have a real ability to engage disengaged learners
Rewards
- 9 weeks’ holiday per academic year to be taken during school holidays
- 45p Mileage allowance per mile for work related journeys
- Outstanding CPD opportunities with first class training provided
Main Responsibilities
- To deliver off-site one-to-one or two-to-one sessions with individual learners as and when it is required (on-site if necessary)
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of Functional Skills & PSD lessons in line with the NCFE curriculum
- Working with students from Pre-Entry to Level 2
- Responsible for comprehensive marking and written and verbal feedback for students
- To develop high-quality teaching materials and schemes of learning that keep students engaged
- Working in conjunction with the Outstanding and Good criteria for OFSTED
- To offer support to all young people, including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
- To participate in the organisation’s engagement activities
