Customer Services Support - Windrush Help Team
Home Office
Grade: Executive Officer (EO)
Salary: £24,883
Location: Sheffield
Use your customer service expertise to support the Windrush generation and their families
The Home Office’s mission is to deliver a safe, fair and prosperous UK. As well as working to reduce crime and enforce the law, we strive to protect the vulnerable and have a proud history of providing refuge to those who have been displaced or are seeking asylum.
We are now working hard to compensate members of the Windrush generation and their families for the losses and impacts they have suffered due to not being able to demonstrate their lawful immigration status. Using your customer service experience, you’ll help us to right these wrongs.
Our helpline enables callers to seek advice on Windrush status and matters relating to claims under the Windrush Compensation Scheme (WCS). We also have a teams that handle requests for urgent payments, support our more vulnerable customers, carry out input and registration of compensation claims, and engage with customers and other Home Office teams.
You’ll oversee a variety of customer-facing and administrative tasks to ensure smooth, efficient, empathic delivery. You’ll monitor and manage WCS Helpline calls, undertake reporting and quality assurance reviews, and carry out workforce and workflow planning. You’ll also undertake some casework, including direct contact with customers. We offer a hybrid working option which blends workplace and home working to cover opening hours of 9.00am to 5.00pm daily.
You’ll bring experience of frontline customer service work, including the ability to handle challenging interactions. Able to manage others to deliver against targets and deadlines, you’ll also be ready to adapt to meet changing priorities. Knowledge of Windrush would be an advantage, as would experience of working with vulnerable customers.
Along with extensive training and development, we offer structured career progression. Other benefits include access to a valuable civil service pension and flexible working arrangements.
