Learner and Discovery Services (LDS) is the award-winning unit of The Open University responsible for the production and delivery of the University’s curriculum; it also has a central role in the design of learning materials.

The role

The Open University are recruiting for Digital Development Editors to play a key role in designing, developing and delivering engaging and pedagogically effective digital and print learning materials to The Open University’s 162,000-plus students. The role works as part of a multi-skilled creative team, working alongside artists, software developers and video producers, and collaborating with academic authors and other partners.

This role is contractually based in Milton Keynes, but there is no requirement to be on Campus regularly. The OU’s Milton Keynes campus is in easy reach of Milton Keynes Central railway station (32 minutes from London Euston) and the M1 and A5.

Skills and experience

You will have experience in the editing, development and production of publications (either online or in print), and an understanding of open and distance-learning principles and pedagogy. Familiarity with editing software and workflows in a publishing context, with knowledge of the basics of print and web design, is also essential.

You are especially encouraged to apply if you hold a relevant qualification in one or more of the disciplines of German, French, Chinese (Mandarin) or Spanish.
