Our client has an exciting opportunity available for an Assistant Director – Human Resources to join their team based in Birmingham (postholders can be required to work at any campus). You will join them on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a highly competitive salary of £38,502 to £41,356 per annum (Management Spine 4-7).

The Assistant Director – Human Resources Role:

The Assistant Director will develop and promote the Colleges Human Resource function. You will also be responsible for the operational management of the HR function and the provision of a customer focused HR service throughout the College.

Key responsibilities of their Assistant Director – Human Resources include:

- Supporting the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures and providing advice and assistance in support of such policies and procedures
- Advising, supporting and guiding managers in dealing with employee relations issues, including grievances and disciplinary investigations and follow-up action, as required
- To be responsible for the effective, accurate and timely preparation and monitoring of all data e.g. payrolls, contracts, management information, ensuring that all targets and deadlines are met in accordance with agreed quality standards and maximum efficiency
- Supporting the processes regarding the running of the College Joint Consultative Committee
- Ensuring that effective HR/Payroll processes are in place, and maintained, ensuring the provision of quality management information e.g. sickness absence, turnover, monitoring etc
- Supporting the operation of the college’s payroll and pensions services provision
- Co-ordinating the management of occupational health services, and related staff welfare schemes, including sickness monitoring and ill-health issues
- Implementing and supporting the development of the Colleges recruitment and selection processes

- Minimum MCIPD qualification
- Experience of managing and monitoring the provision of Human Resources
- Evidence of effective management of staff
- Experience of managing and developing people
- Demonstrable ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, guidance and standards
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and demonstrable presentation skills
- Demonstrable ability to develop policies and procedures
- Demonstrable knowledge of current HR legislation and the implementation of best practice techniques
- Demonstrable administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office packages
- Demonstrable ability to develop and deliver training to staff
- Demonstrable numeric and literacy skills
- Demonstrable record of working flexibly and using own initiative
- Experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Demonstrable record of achievement against objectives and targets
- Experience of delivering training to a large audience
