Description

HEO Complaints Officer

Salary: £29,924 – £32,160

Location: Worcester / Northern Ireland (with options for some flexible working) or Contractual Home Worker for those based in Northern Ireland

Contract: Permanent

Introduction

The Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) is a new public body, established to improve and conserve the natural environment. We hold the government to account on its environmental commitments and advance environmental governance through independent oversight. We also provide advice on environmental law and deal with public authority compliance. With us, you’ll be playing your part in crucial work that promotes the environment’s importance.

The Role

This is a rare opportunity to help build a new function from the ground up and shape how the OEP operates in its first few years of existence.

Joining our Complaints and Enforcement team, you’ll lead investigations into potential breaches of environmental law. As part of this, you’ll decide if complaints submitted to us fall within our remit, prioritise our current complaints and then manage complex cases through to completion.

Throughout the process, you’ll deliver excellent standards of customer service to the members of the public who’ve submitted complaints. You’ll also confidently manage relationships with complainants, public authorities and other contacts.

You’ll then take on wider OEP projects when required, and prepare operational reports for the function.

Who we’re looking for

You’ll have experience working with environmental law, managing stakeholders and dealing with complex cases.

You’ll have strong analytical skills, excellent communications skills and a flexible, adaptable mindset. We’re also looking for candidates who can lead projects, think strategically and develop strong working relationships.

About us

At OEP, you can take advantage of a wide range of benefits including flexible working, generous annual leave, outstanding learning and development, our occupational health service and a huge range of retail discounts.
