Description

Digital Content Designer

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Band: Funded (C/L2)

Fixed term – 2 years

The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour, and one of the most important museums of its type in the world.

We have recently been awarded funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver our Digital Vision Project. An essential part of this Project is the creation of engaging stories for our visitors. These will be tested across a range of digital platforms including social media, the website and a new interactive space within the museum we are calling the digital playground where we will test experimental content with visitors.

You will be responsible for delivering amazing user-focussed experiences across all areas of digital. You will work closely with project managers, content creators, AV technicians, actors, curators, and marketeers, so excellent communication skills are vital. Ideally you will have a broad range of digital skills and experience designing digital content, including developing text with images, animation or motion graphics and film-making. Having a passion for the user experience and a desire to create audience-focussed, engaging, and inspiring stories about our collections is essential. You will also be responsible for organising and managing user testing and be comfortable with iterative design processes.

Knowledge of history or arms and armour is not necessary, but an interest in the subject would be an advantage. You will be working closely with arms and armour experts to explore our collections and develop engaging content.

The post is for a fixed term of 2 years and is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years, working 36 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. The post-holder must be prepared to work on occasion at the weekend, on Bank Holidays and in the evenings. This post will be based at our Leeds Royal Armouries site with opportunity for hybrid working.
