We are looking for a driven and dynamic manager to play a key role within our Interpretation Team. This post is being created to develop, project manage and deliver exhibitions and displays across the museum’s three sites, at our flagship museum in Leeds, at our historic home in the Tower of London, and at the Victorian Fort Nelson in Hampshire.

The Royal Armouries cares for one of the world’s oldest museum collections in the world, which continues to grow in new and exciting ways today. The Interpretation Manager’s role is to help bring this national and world-famous collection of arms and armour to life in our galleries and through temporary exhibitions. The post-holder will be based in Leeds and will work across all three of the museum’s sites.

We are looking for a creative and practical interpretation professional with extensive experience in the museum sector. You will have a strong understanding of audiences and experience of how to develop content and interpretation according to the separate needs of each. You will have a track record of creativity and innovation in story-led museum interpretation and will know how to deliver compelling narrative across different media drawing on sector best practice.

You will have experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams within museums, contractors including designers and interpretative developers, and external stakeholders. You will be used to managing content delivery on a large-scale, collaborating with both internal and external teams and project managing exhibitions to successful delivery.

Working full-time, 36 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 on a 12 month contract, The post-holder may on occasion as part of projects work at the weekend, on Bank Holidays and in the evenings as required given the nature of the position. The role will be based at our site in Leeds and there will be opportunity for hybrid working.
