Are you passionate about teaching students with additional needs?

Are you a qualified Maths Teacher with experience working with vulnerable and hard-to-reach students?

I am interested in speaking to qualified Maths Teachers within London who have a passion for working with vulnerable children who have challenging behaviour and other additional needs. This is a temporary to permanent position to start in September 2022 working in a PRU in Islington. Teachers from mainstream backgrounds looking to transition to SEND settings, specifically SEMH, are encouraged to apply!

Pupil Referral Unit

We are looking for a Maths Teacher to teach in a KS3 and 4 in a PRU. The provision is based in central London with train lines running in from the north and central line. The provision caters for students who are unable to access mainstream education. The school caters for students who have challenging behaviour, usually SEMH and sometimes a dual diagnosis of autism and various other needs.

What We Are looking for - Maths Teacher

• Therapeutic teaching approach
• Secondary maths teacher or primary teacher with maths specialism
• Experience of teaching with emotional regulation and with positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies
• Positive role model to support communication, with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach
• Experience with SEMH, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication teaching background
• Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with vulnerable students
• Experience in working with disengaged teenagers is essential.

Maths Teacher requirements

• The passion to teach and inspire young people during a crucial stage of their personal and academic development.
• A nurturing, patient, empathetic and holistic approach
• Excellent behaviour management
• QTS or QTLS

Although experience teaching in PRU specialist setting is beneficial I would also love to hear from individuals who are interested in taking their first steps into SEND settings.
