Description

The starting salary for this role is £32,173 per annum for working 36 hours per week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

About us

We have high ambitions here at Surrey County Council – our aim is to be recognised, simply, as outstanding and we are amid an organisation wide transformation that will help us get there. The challenge is huge and the opportunities, even greater.

About the role

We are recruiting for an Insight & Intelligence Advisor to join our Insight & Intelligence team on a one year fixed-term contract. This role is suitable for a true self-starter with an analytical mind and outstanding people skills, who wishes to develop into strategic support of the HR function with their insights, and proactively offers support to team members on various projects linked to people analytics.

Key to this role will be to understand the requirements from various HR teams and their projects across the wider organisation. You will prepare, produce, interpret, and analyse workforce data reports in order to facilitate the strategic planning surrounding workforce development and progression, and to inform decision making.

About you

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • Customer facing capabilities to manage small and big data projects, post-event analysis, and the recommendation of interventions. Besides having basic core analytical skills, your expertise will be weighted more towards consulting, storytelling, communication, and project management.
  • Experience of working within a complex and demanding environment, including a sound understanding of relevant policies and practices within the HR function.
  • A substantial ability to understand and use a diverse range of HR systems, including production of Excel reports for analysis of complex scenarios to provide a comprehensive set of data reports for key stakeholders. You will have demonstrable experience in collecting, structuring, analysing, and reporting on processes and data. Key competencies, besides data analysis, include: business acumen, relationship management, communication, and cultural awareness.
  • Flexibility to manage conflicting priorities in a fast pace environment, whilst being a resilient team player who can demonstrate innovation and creativity in their approach to data analytics and persuasive storytelling.
  • Team player capabilities to create strong networks with other analytical cohorts to share good practice.

Key competencies

  • Advanced and interchangeable Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to create reports in a credible, engaging and compelling way with highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge on data/people analytics, and a sound understanding of relevant policies and practices within the HR function applicable to business reporting models.
  • Advanced numerical, analytical, organisational, and writing skills, with the ability to reprioritise projects and show confidence and professionalism under pressure.
  • Ability to liaise with several different stakeholders across the organisation, adapting styles to different situations/audiences with outstanding people skills.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
