Job summary

London's business growth and destination agency whose mission is to create economic growth that is resilient, sustainable and inclusive, is looking to recruit a Compliance Manager to deliver a programme of activities and projects which will ensure efficient and effective ways of working.

The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation regularly updates and maintains policies and procedures and that they have reasonable steps to ensure compliance. These activities are all part of the organisations core strategic objective to provide cost-effective quality services and to strive to be ever more effective and efficient in how they promote London.

Key duties and responsibilities

Internal Audits

  • Define and implement an agreed internal audit programme to ensure compliance with documented policies and procedures as well as external legislation and laws
  • Direct teams across the business to undertake adhoc audits covering key processes, policies and procedures to ensure compliance, identify and implement improvements.
  • Work with business process owners to address observations including the identification and implementation of improved ways of working


Policies and Procedures Management

  • Lead the ongoing review and updates to corporate policies and procedures working with the Director, Finance to ensure they are reviewed, approved and issued in a timely manner.
  • Lead the audit of Mandatory Documents on an annual basis .
  • Implement, maintain and test Business continuity plan in conjunction with HR and IT disaster recovery plan.
  • Maintain the Gifts & Hospitality Register and reporting
  • Support the business with process flow definition


Complaints Handling

  • Ensure complaints are handled in compliance with the Complaints Procedure


Data Compliance

  • The Director, Finance will be the Data Compliance Officer. The Compliance manager will support by: Ensuring compliance with the external rules defined under UK GDPR
  • Ensuring our internal systems and processes are compliant with UK GDPR regulations
  • Liaising with our legal representatives for the resolution of issues or for enhancing knowledge based on specific scenarios
  • Conducting internal audits to monitor adherence to UK GDPR requirements
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation and register associated with UK GDPR compliance e.g. data breaches, Legitimate Interest Assessments
  • Act as the liaison with the ICO for any data breaches etc
  • Providing support for questions and issues


Skills and competencies required

My client is not looking for someone who will read and spout the rule book, but someone who can focus on GDPR, influence and try to find solutions. You will need to be mega agile in your approach to work and have confidence to work and influence a range of stakeholders.

Skills

  • Experience of operational excellence methodologies and tools including:
  • An understanding of process design
  • Experience of reviewing and updating policies and procedures
  • Internal Audits/Assessments
  • An understanding of Data Compliance in line with UK GDPR
  • Experience of Microsoft Office packages


Competencies

  • Experience implementing business improvement initiatives
  • Experience of distilling complex information into meaningful insights to a broad audience
  • Commercially astute with sound knowledge of business functions
  • Awareness of change management methodologies
  • Facilitation and influencing skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Organisationally savvy - can make connections across the business to deliver results
  • Strong communicator and ability to influence
  • Proactive and able to spot opportunities and challenges
  • Aptitude for seeing projects through to conclusion


What you'll get in return

This is a full-time, permanent job opportunity, paying £35,700. This is a 40:60 Hybrid role (two days in per week), based out of Central London (SE1). Applicants must hold Rights to Work in the UK and live within a commutable distance to Central London.
