Head of New Business (Partnerships) - 12 months fixed term contract with the possibility of becoming permanent

Location: Stratford, London (minimum of 2 days per week) with hybrid working

Contract: Fixed term contract (12 months), 35 hours per week (flexible working requests will be considered)

Salary: £65,000 - £73,000 (depending on experience)

We are looking for an exceptional people leader with experience of business development and acquisition to join us as Head of New Business.

The Head of New Business will work with the Partnerships leadership team to set the vision, strategy, priorities and targets for the function. You will lead and drive high performance from the team to acquire new, high value, strategic and transformational corporate partnerships which meet CRUK's financial and core purpose strategic aims.

We are looking for someone with experience of commercial and finance partnership business development and acquisition. We are looking for leaders with transferable skills - so this role would suit, not only individuals from the charity sector, but an individual with a background in recruitment agency, sales or from Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

What will you be doing?

  • Develop and deliver the New Partnerships acquisition strategy
  • Identify priority sectors to acquire new partnerships and building a balanced pipeline of prospects to meet the needs of the organisation
  • Be responsible for identifying strategic areas for investment or de-investment and creating 3-year financial plan with year 1 detail - working with stakeholder teams across CRUK
  • Provide leadership and direction of the acquisition process to secure new partnerships
  • Cultivate influential relationships with external key decision makers to convert prospects into partnerships
  • Provide meaningful stewardship of senior individuals whether within our Partners, Stakeholders groups or Senior Volunteers
  • Lead the team in identifying and approaching new high value and strategic prospects which meet the organisational strategy and objectives of CRUK
  • Lead and contribute to team, directorate and wider CRUK initiatives and projects as required
  • Ensure equality and diversity is celebrated and considered as part of all decisions taken.
  • Undertake other tasks as necessary to contribute to the Partnerships team objectives and those of Cancer Research UK
