We have a fabulous opportunity for an experienced Assistant to work for the Director/Owner of a well-established publishing company who publishes the most beautiful gift books! This unique role will involve working closely with the Owner/Creator of these lovely books, as well as working independently to help free up her time so she can focus on producing new books.

This is a busy and varied role where no two days are the same and you will assist with schedules, deadlines and some editorial tasks, and act as a communicator between the Director and the rest of the team. You may also help out in other departments, assisting with the varied day-to-day tasks that go on within publishing, as well as general office management responsibilities.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Director with day-to-day tasks Preparing, prioritising and managing tasks of the Director’s attention Assisting with setting up meetings, troubleshooting minor IT issues On occasion typing up copy for new books, managing and locating copy from their bespoke database system Proof reading Liaising between the Director and members of staff/external contacts in confidence Supporting staff with ad hoc tasks

This role offers the opportunity to grow to work at a very senior level within the company and the successful person will have strong English language skills, accurate typing and proof reading as well as having the ability to cope with all the functions of a small but busy office. You will be able to demonstrate sound experience of working as a PA/Office manager or similar, preferably from a publishing environment, and you will have fantastic communication, IT (proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook) and organisational skills. You should be keen to learn and develop, particularly how the processes within publishing work with a can-do approach to your work.

This role will be based at the company’s Watford office and is a permanent, full-time role.
