The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to direct, co-ordinate and manage the work of Croydon Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP). The CSCP is the statutory body established through the Children Act 2004; responsible for co-ordinating the work of local agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children within the local authority area and ensuring the effectiveness of that work. And to ensure a collaborative multi-agency approach to the business of the CSCP – specifically planning, policy and procedure development, safeguarding practice reviews, quality assurance and performance management.

You will lead on new developments for the CSCP and work effectively with the Independent Scrutineer of the CSCB to monitor and review the progress of the Board and its impact upon outcomes for children. And lead on the development and implementation of the work of CSCP and its sub groups.

About You

The suitable applicant will have the following:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant profession in social policy, social care, teaching or health field or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of proposed and actual legislation, statutory regulation and Government guidance and standards relevant to safeguarding children.
  • Knowledge of current child protection policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection practice, of the skills and qualifications required by child protection workers, and by all professionals from the constituent agencies of the CSCB in relation to their safeguarding responsibilities.
  • An understanding of and ability to promote equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory
  • Ability to organise complex systems and develop strategies for effective management of work streams.
  • Ability to work in a culture of challenge and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of professionals from various agencies, including members of the council and members of the public in different settings.
  • High degree of skill in project management and production of written information and procedures
  • Must have extensive experience in all aspects of children’s work in one of the key agencies.
  • Experience of social policy planning, development and research.
  • Experience of working collaboratively in an inter-agency environment with Health, Education, Police and the voluntary sector.
  • Experience of project management.
  • Experience of preparing, writing and presenting business plans, action plans, and other reports as required.
