We have an exciting opportunity to lead the team of welcome staff and volunteers at Newark Park. You'll lead and empower your team to respond to customer enquiries and site issues and be the face of the National Trust. You’ll have a passion for the National Trust's cause, and will be experienced in managing people, working under pressure and delivering outstanding customer service. You'll coordinate your team across visitor welcome, championing high standards of presentation every day, and taking the lead on membership sales and fundraising.

Weekend working is essential, with a minimum of one weekend day per week.

This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.

Newark Park is a Grade I listed country house of Tudor origins located near the village of Ozleworth, Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire. The house sits in an estate of 700 acres at the southern end of the Cotswold escarpment with views down the Severn Valley to the Severn Estuary.

It’s an exciting time to join the Newark team. Our visitor numbers are growing, and we have big ambitions for the visitor experience, which you’ll be able to contribute to. You’ll have overall responsibility for the welcome team, their safety and working practices, working closely with the Property Operations Manager to develop the site offers.

You’ll be part of Newark’s leadership team and be one of the duty managers, with responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the welcome area. You'll ensure the delivery of the highest standard of service and visitor experience, using sound judgement and decision making, in line with National Trust guidelines and policies. You’ll be using your creativity and communication skills to inspire and motivate your staff and volunteers to be the friendly face of the National Trust to thousands of visitors.

You'll be applying your high level of competence to deal with service recovery without senior support being on site, engaging with our visitors to inspire support through membership and helping them to enjoy their visit.

Who we're looking for t.gif

  • Good practical experience in visitor business, tourism, heritage or relevant visitor services environment
  • Naturally curious about people, and with a passion to and experience of delivering the highest standards of customer service
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Confident leader, adaptable and responsive under pressure
  • Ability to initiate service recovery without senior support
  • Good IT skills (all MS Office)
