Description

Global Competition Review is a leading antitrust news service, trusted by major government agencies and the wider legal industry to provide timely news and insight that matters. We offer experienced antitrust reporters access to leading decision-makers and the ability to shape our daily coverage, as well as access to proprietary litigation data to understand and uncover stories which no-one else can write.

We're looking for a Reporter to join our talented global team that reports daily on antitrust news, covering the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission, as well as Congress and the US courts. You’ll be responsible for originating and producing daily stories and contributing to our morning Tipline bulletin, reporting on some of the world’s most important policy debates, from the challenges facing the Biden administration and Big Tech to the role of competition enforcement in protecting the environment, labour markets and democracy itself. Antitrust is now a mainstream beat, and at GCR our reporters deepen their technical knowledge and truly understand the law behind the political trends, while also ensuring stories are accessible and appealing to a time-pressed, expert audience.

What you would be doing:

  • Producing daily stories for GCR USA
  • Working with the other reporters to produce our morning Tipline bulletin
  • Writing engaging features and interviews
  • Engaging with our feed of proprietary litigation data, and working to identify trends and potential stories
  • Working with a wider team of journalists across the US, UK, Germany and Hong Kong in maintaining GCR’s market-leading reputation
  • Covering hearings before Congress and the US courts, as well as conferences both at home and abroad

What we are looking for:

  • Degree in journalism, communications or law
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A sharp eye for detail
  • Self-starter, confident in covering a specialist, technical beat
  • Team-oriented and collaborative outlook in newsrooms
  • A proven interest in legal and/or political reporting
  • Ability to network, develop sources and ask the right questions
  • Knowledge of antitrust law would be an advantage
  • Experience of writing and reporting on business and/or legal news would be advantage
  • By preference, the successful candidate will live in or be able to move to Washington, DC, although we are open to remote working applications

In return we can offer you a rewarding career with national and international travel and personal and professional development, in addition to a competitive salary with an excellent benefits package that includes:

  • 20 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Wellbeing allowance $500
  • EAP
  • 401K
  • Healthcare (medical, dental and optical)
  • Annual Wellbeing Days

To apply, please send your resume and supporting statement explaining why you are suitable for this role and writing samples via the APPLY button below. We look forward to receiving your application.
